The same two half-day workshops will be presented in each of four Regions in the Greater Toronto Area. |
|
Morning Workshop—9am to noon Beginning to use Narrative Therapy
This half-day workshop will be a great introduction for anyone new to narrative ideas, and also for those who have familiarity with narrative therapy and are interested in beginning to put the ideas into practice.
Afternoon Workshop—1:30 to 4:30 Narrative Approaches to working with Children and Young People Dealing with Difficult Times (...for afternoon participants who are new to narrative therapy, we suggest taking the morning workshop which will provide the underpinnings to narrative ideas.)
The second workshop will be of interest to all counselors working with children and young people. It will also be relevant to practitioners working with adults who are struggling with the effects of childhood trauma and abuse.
Throughout the workshop there will be an exploration of creative possibilities to working with children and young people who are dealing with difficult times such as mental health difficulties and substance use in families, separation and divorce, and abuse. The ideas from Michael White will be presented such as:
· How to scaffold questions so young people can answer them · How to assist children and young people in noticing their own skills and knowledges · The importance of Second Story development in conversations with children and teens who have been subject to abuse/trauma. |
